Elizabeth Letourneau

IN A NUTSHELL

What if we designed effective prevention programs for pedophiles before they acted out on their inappropriate desires?

ABOUT ELIZABETH

After writing a paper about pedophilia in graduate school, Elizabeth Letourneau decided to devote her life’s work to changing the way people view child sexual abuse. By framing the issue as a preventable public health problem, Elizabeth is working to prevent child sexual abuse through the development of perpetration prevention programs. Trained as a clinical psychologist, Elizabeth has also specialized in interventions for youth who engage in risky behaviors including problem sexual behaviors. She is the inaugural director of the Moore Center for the Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse and Professor at the Department of Mental Health at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and is a past president for the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.
